How Long Will You Postpone Your Dreams?
It’s been such a long time since I wrote a newsletter many of you will have forgotten you were on the list.
It was always a challenge for me to find the time to focus my energies on writing for my newsletter when I was teaching full time. This spring I finally stopped listening to the “voice of reason” and retired from teaching. The “voice of reason” might also be known as the voice of fear. It would always tell me to play safe and stay in the security of the known. It would say things like “ what if no one hires you to coach?” “What if your pensions isn’t enough and you lose your home?” “You won’t be able to afford a new car.” “The economy is really bad and people won’t be spending on non-essentials.” Etc.etc. etc. Do you hear similar messages when you think about following your dreams?
However, the voice of love was calling me to live my dream. “How long will you wait to do what you love?” it would ask. “You would not have this deep desire if you didn’t have the means to make it happen. Put your attention on what you want, take inspired action and live by what you teach” it added. This time I listened.
I also had the benefit of the support of my coach, Gaga Barnes. I wrote her a pretend letter of resignation in the spring of 2007 and dated it June 30 2008. She would remind me when I would waver that this was my time and the world needs what I have to offer. In my heart, I always knew I would follow through because I had made that sincere commitment to her and had to keep it.
This process was a powerful reminder to me of the benefits of coaching. Gaga never lost faith in my vision. She held me to my commitment and reminded me of that goal and what it would mean to me when I might have lost faith and courage on my own. That’s one benefit of working with a coach.
When you make the commitment and take the first step, doors you haven’t seen before begin to open in front of your eyes. Opportunities presented to create different streams of income that are in line with my passion to help people.

I’m very excited to have become a certified Laughter Yoga teacher too and can’t wait to see what will present around bringing laughter to others.
